After I went to bed last night, I realized that I forgot about a couple of points that I wanted to make about Colossal Arena from my last post.
First, while they are completely different mechanically, the struggle to position the creatures you are supporting (and destroy the ones you aren’t) reminds me an awful lot of the battle to position artists in a given round in Modern Art.
Second, the way CA accelerates as it progresses from round to round is extremely cool. The first round actually borders on dragging a bit, but each round has a faster pace, and is more intense, than its predecessor. This is accomplished elegantly through the interaction of several mechanics, and I am in awe of it.
